A feast of colorful Quintet works at S.P.A.C.E. Guest musicians So Young Bae and Weijing Wang Michal join Civitas Ensemble in Bartók’s and Dvořák’s piano quintets. Bartók composed his quintet at age 23, this post-romantic quintet is rarely heard because the composer didn’t want to publish it. Here is your chance to experience this wonderful early work by the Hungarian master. 

We pair this quintet with Dvořák’s quintet op, 81 because Dvořák was one of the major influences for Bartók. This quintet in A Major is easily one of the finest examples of late Romantic chamber music. 

We are also honoring Michael Henoch, Founder and Artistic Director of Dempster St. Pro Musica, who is making a special appearance in Piazzolla’s beloved Oblivion for oboe and strings.
